The Hot Take
We build products in JavaScript. Not TypeScript. This is a deliberate choice, not ignorance.
Our Reasoning
Speed of Development
For the products we build — mostly MVPs and rapid iterations — the TypeScript tax isn't worth the payoff. We move faster without it.
Team Fit
Our team is comfortable with JavaScript's dynamic nature. We've built enough products to know where the sharp edges are.
Maintenance Reality
Most of our projects are actively developed for 3-6 months, then enter maintenance mode. The long-term type safety argument is less relevant.
When We Recommend TypeScript
- Large teams (10+ developers)
- Long-term products (2+ years active development)
- Complex domain models with many entities
The Truth
For most startups, the JS vs TS debate is a distraction. Ship the product. Worry about types when you have 50 engineers.
